9:30AM Gravel parking area 4 miles south of Bear Mtn Traffic Circle at intersection with River Road in Tomkins Cove. Hike south on Timp-Torn to The Timp, then north on RD to Bald Mtn for lunch, then continue north across Dunderberg Mtn on RD and loop back to parking area along old spiral railway. 9:30 AM at Iona Island parking area (on Rt. 9W), south of Bear Mountain Inn. We will walk at a leisurely pace on old carriage trails and country lanes in historic Doodletown. The terrain has some ups and downs. Wear appropriate footwear for unpaved trails. Please register by email. If the hike is cancelled for weather or other reasons, leader will email registered hikers before 8 AM. TC Northern Harriman Trails map 119. Directions to Iona Island parking: Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway to the Bear Mountain Circle. Continue south on Route 9W for 1.3 miles to a small parking area on the left side of the road, just past a concrete bridge over a stream.

The hike is the complete Stonetown Circular which starts from the Stonetown Recreation Center in Ringwood. This hike climbs five mountains with over 2,500 feet of elevation gain while offering views of the Wanaque and Monksville Reservoirs. For further information or to register, contact Bob Fiscina. Meet at 9:30 at hikers parking area on Rt 9W across from Iona Island. Starting on the Cornell Mine Trail, connect with the RD Trail for the climb up and over Bald Mountain (summit at 1120 ft.) followed by a climb to The Timp on the TT Trail. Using the Timp Pass Road, we will connect with the 1777 Trail. Passing through Doddletown, we may stop for some of the historical sites before descending on Doddletown Road down to Grays Hill and back to the parking area.
