2009 Trip Schedule

LONG TRAIL III PLUS  -  Pace: B    Miles: 15    Terrain: A

Sat. July 18 - Sat. July 25

This is the third in a six year project to dayhike the Long Trail of Vermont from the Canadian border to Massachusetts southbound. On this particular trip we will cover close to 50 miles of the Long Trail from the Winooski River to Middlebury Gap and include the peak bagging of three 4,000 foot mountains in VT: Camels Hump, Abraham & Ellen. The hiking will be strenuous and we will go at a steady pace. One of the hikes will have a length of fifteen miles. We also will climb Mt. Moosalamoo and take short treks to Abbey Pond, and other interesting locations in the area which adds the plus to the trip title. Carpooling and car shuttles will be arranged. Our accommodations will be fully furnished houses with complete modern kitchens, shared rooms and baths in Warren, VT. Participants must attend for the entire week. Contact L for detailed itinerary. NH AT IV/White Mountain Trip XX  -   Pace: B    Miles: 15    Terrain: A

Sun. Aug. 9 – Sun. Aug. 16

This annual trip to the Whites will include over 60 miles of hiking along the Appalachian Trail from Kinsman Notch to West Hartford, VT and will feature the climbing of Mt. Moosilauke among a number of other Middle Connecticut River Mountains. Mileages range from 9-15 miles per day. Elevation gain per hike will be 3000-4500 feet per day for the first four days and then a marked drop off in elevation after that. This is a strenuous trip. Accomodations will be car camping at two campgrounds. Hikers are welcome to attend for shorter duration. Contact L for detailed itinerary. Deadline to register: July 1.
